Analysis of music videos- Foundations

Kate Nash's "foundations" inspired me quite a lot due to it being a low-budget production and expresses the narrative. I thought this song was good to analyse as it is talking about a relationship struggling and the leading female not being happy with how shes treated within the relationship, which is similar to my chosen song. the video clearly presents the audience with visuals of the lyrics.

The stereotypical audience for this music video would be women. I particularly liked the washed out yellow vintage dress that she wears, creating a quirky and unique look, which is something i hope to achieve when i come to prepare the costume for my final product. by filming it in a standard flat it makes it more relatable for the audience.

The birds eye view of the couple within their home gives the sense of the audience invading their space and overlooking at their situation. the close-ups of the couples hands letting go underline the relationship changing.

the lyrics are often visualised through the use of props for example beer bottles, shoes and lemons are all referred to.

After analysising this video, i have learnt that by using interesting camera angles, techniques and editing, you're able to make a low budget production look extremely effective.
