Ideas for magazine advert

I want my magazine advert to be similar to my album cover, i want the band to be recognisable as if people see the magazine advert before they've heard or seen of the CD it'll prompt them to invest in it if they happen to see it in store as they'll have previously seen a large hype about the band. I also think it is best to keep a reoccurring image of the band as it is good for their brand identity. A popular music magazine in the UK is 'Q' so i plan to create an advertisment for my band which would be featured in this magazine in particular.
My priorities when creating my bands advertisement are:
- Bold writing, making the bands name and album clear and noticeable for the target audience.
- The only writing featured should be the bands name, album, small quotes from critics and the itunes logo.
- Whole advertisment to be made up of a picture of the band.
- The same font and colour text used on the CD.

Magazine Adverts

This is an example of pop singer Ellie Goulding's magazine Advert. The singer is the main image, pulling a natural expression which shows her beauty and star image. The gold writing, font and 'black and gold' colour theme shows her brand identity. The same font, colour and image is used on the magazine advert as on the album cover (left picture). The gold used, and emphasis on the word 'lights' really help to sell her album to a young 'pop' target audience as it makes her even more glamorous and appealing.

The Kings of Leon present a quirky magazine cover; similar to the nature of the rocky music they sing. An animal image is combined with the bands faces- this makes the album quirky and extremely recognisable. A filter is also used on the photograph; this gives it an old/vintage feel

Rihanna is a pop artist who appeals to young but wide target audience. All of the girls want to be her, and all of the males want to be with her. To do this, Rihanna has to be marketted in a particular way in her albums and magazine advertisements. The pose she pulls is seductive, yet beautiful as she wears makeup and has different items of fashion jewelerry on. A red, black and white colour theme is carried on, giving her a brand identity and creating a new, older, more edgy look for Rihanna; perhaps showing her naughty side which is conveyed in this album.
